First Service Bank, Partners with Delta Solar to Build a 427-kW Solar Array, Leading the Charge for Green Energy

First Service Bank is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in our commitment to sustainability and innovation with the creation of SOM Solar. SOM, which stands for "Separating Ourselves from the Masses," embodies our forward-thinking approach to banking and environmental responsibility. In partnership with Delta Solar, a Little Rock-based company, SOM Solar constructed a 427-kilowatt (kW) solar array designed to offset the electricity usage of eight branch locations using clean, renewable energy.

The new solar array, located in Dermott just off State Highway 208, is built to offset 96% of the electrical needs of these locations. By generating the vast majority of our energy through solar, First Service Bank is reducing its carbon footprint while investing in a greener, more sustainable future.

The solar array will be connected to the Entergy Arkansas electric grid and is grandfathered into one-to-one net metering. This allows First Service Bank to provide [DH1] energy generated back to the grid for use by the local community and retrieve equivalent credits later, balancing our energy consumption in an environmentally friendly manner. In banking terms, it is similar to making an interest free loan to the utility which is redeemed as needed.[DH2]

“Our SOM Solar initiative is a perfect example of how we are separating ourselves from the masses,” said Tom Grumbles, CEO of First Service Bank. “We’ve always been about leading with innovation and long-term thinking. This project reflects that commitment to both our customers and the environment[DH3] , ensuring that we’re making responsible choices for the future.”

Beyond its environmental benefits, SOM Solar allows First Service Bank to reinvest savings from tax credits, grants, and energy reductions into the communities we serve. [DH4] By leveraging renewable energy, we can support local growth and well-being while making a positive impact on the planet.

Solar power is a sustainable energy source that helps us operate more efficiently and responsibly. [DH5] The savings we achieve through this initiative will be directed back into projects and initiatives that benefit our customers and communities, demonstrating our dedication to environmental responsibility and community investment.
