Susan Abner considers her decision to join First Service Bank more than 10 years ago “the best” choice.

Susan serves as a Deposit Operations Specialist in the bank’s corporate headquarters in Greenbrier. “In the administration department, we wear many hats,” she said, adding that her job responsibilities include wire transfers, ACH transactions, directing phone calls and preparing monthly board reports. She also helps answer questions from branch employees and serves as “backup on anything else any of my teammates in administration need.”  Susan's versatile skill set allows her to provide exceptional customer service and meet the various needs of our clients. Her cross-training ensures that she is equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to handle any situation that may arise. Our customers can rest assured that they are in good hands with Susan. 

Susan earned an associate’s degree in business with an emphasis in accounting from Rhodes College. She graduated summa cum laude with a 3.96 GPA.

Her decision to pursue a career in banking was merely based on a job opportunity. “Honestly, it was the first accounting job I was offered when I moved to Arkansas,” she said. “I have stayed with FSB for 10 years because I have the best manager, the best teammates and the best benefits I could ever ask for.”

At First Service Bank, Susan said she enjoys most the camaraderie with all departments at all locations throughout the state. “We are more like family than fellow employees,” she said. “First Service Bank is family-owned, and the Grumbles family has invited us into their business world with open arms and open hearts. Tom, Andy, Rebecca and Robin treat us all like part of their family.”  

Born in Smith Center, Kan., Susan lives in Center Ridge (Conway County). She and her husband, Mark, have three children and five grandchildren. She attends First Baptist Church of Center Ridge and enjoys gardening, camping and fishing. 

Susan gives back to the community through the bank’s Operation Red, White and Brave program. ORWB was created in 2019 to support First Service Bank’s vision as well as one of its core values – patriotism. In 2021, First Service partnered with Habitat for Humanity and communities across the state to raise $80,000 to build a house in Little Rock for a veteran. In August 2022, First Service Bank announced it was expanding ORWB to celebrate, recognize and help more vets, active military and their families through physical assistance and financial support.

Last year, Susan’s efforts with ORWB earned her Volunteer of the Year recognition from the bank. “I am especially proud of our Operation Red, White, and Brave program that helps our veterans when they need us the most,” she said. “God Bless America!”

Three generations of the Grumbles family are involved in the operation of First Service Bank, which is headquartered in Faulkner County.
