The response to the first-ever Operation Red, White and Brave Gala has been so positive that all sponsorships and tickets are sold out, and the event is still a month away.
The gala is scheduled 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Herschel Hall in Greenbrier.
“The ORWB mission is to honor veterans and active military while helping to address their needs and the needs of their families through physical assistance and financial support,” said Rebecca Barnard, board chairman of the ORWB Foundation. “Proceeds from the gala will be used for future projects and greatly impact what we are able to accomplish and who we are able to serve. We want to thank all the sponsors for their support.”
First Service Bank created ORWB in 2019 to support the bank’s vision as well as one of its core values – patriotism. In 2021, First Service partnered with Habitat for Humanity and communities across the state to raise $80,000 to build a house in Little Rock for a veteran. In August 2022, First Service Bank announced it was expanding ORWB to help more vets, active military and their families.
This year, ORWB has poured about $20,000 into ORWB projects – from constructing wheelchair ramps to placing flagpoles at the homes of families who have lost loved ones while in service. A current project involves helping a Clinton area veteran with improvements to his home.
First Service Bank is the Presenting Sponsor for the gala. Deena Burnett Bailey – whose husband was aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001 – will be the featured speaker. There will also be an opportunity to recognize veterans. A silent auction is also planned.
Local War World II hero, Floyd Brantley, who also served in the Korean War, will also be speaking at the event, sharing memories of his time in service.
“The response to the gala is a testament to a shared admiration for those who have served and are currently serving in our military,” said Rebecca. “On behalf of those who will be helped through ORWB, we thank you for your interest and support of ORWB.”
